Every Song Tells A Story ...

I want you to cast your mind back to when I was younger, much younger.  

30 or so years ago infact.  I've bought my first ever CD player and I'm in the shops looking to find something to di it justice.  Springsteen's 3 CD live box set had just been released and I'll I really knew of him was Born in the USA.

I bought the box set, in a 12inch presentation box and a full size booklet.  

I put the first CD in .. the opening bars to Thunder Road ... 

Screen door slams, Mary's dress waves

Like a vision she stands in the doorway as the radio plays ...

All of a sudden the world of cinematic music opens up and an on going love affair with story telling music began.  

A musician that can transport you to a new place inside of the first few bars of a tune and keep you there for 5 minutes of so .. that's a magician.  Springsteen is a genius at this and still manages it .. in fact his writing skills are not drying up anytime soon.

It's an invitation to join Bruce and the E Street band ion thier many adventures ..

I got this guitar and I learnt how to make it talk 

I aint never got my guitar to talk but I sure wanted to ... 

And so Springsteen, Dylan, Clapton, Simon & Garfunkle, Grohl to name few rock ones, Eminem, NWA, Post Malone to name some rap ones have all transported me, and continue to do so from the drivers set of the car, the streets and the parks when I walk , from the desk that I work and sometime stare out of the window,

When I'm lucky I see these people live .. Springsteen is on stage for more then 3hrs without a break, Grohl and the Foo Fighters similar. Oh how I dreamt of being them when I was younger, tennis racket, hoover and mirror .. who didn't ?

And so .. .to me music is so important so much a part of the world I inhabit. I can't imagine a world where I haven't stood in a field shouting fist pumping the air ..

Highway's full of broken heroes on a last chance power drive ...

Thank god for music and musicians that tell stories
