The World Tells You to Niche—But Should You?

Because niching isn't the only way.

If you’re in the creative world, you've heard the advice a hundred times: find your niche.

Supposedly, it’s the only way to stand out in a crowded market. But is that really the best approach for everyone? As a creative consultant working with small businesses, I’ve discovered that being niche-free brings way more benefits—for me and my clients. Offering a range of creative services like photography, videography, animation, and design, I can help my clients in many more ways than if I offered a single offering, or worked for a single type of client.

Business Coaches can take a breath here, I do have a 'perfect client avatar' whatever that may be but I've learnt over the years to be less rigid. I have a lot of skills, and I'm happy to offer them all to you because they all in essence give the same result, they capture you and make you memorable.

Why a Wide Range of Services Works Better for my small business ... and might for yours

Simply, what works for one client may not work for another. Every single business I work with is different. They are at a different place in their journey, they do different things, are seeking different types of client.

One client could be a local artist about to have an exhibition. Another could be a mortgage advisor. Another may be a lash technician, another yet may be across the Atlantic working in the hospitality industry ... these are true examples of the people I work with and there are many more.

So their needs are way different. The platforms they use are wide and varied. Some need photography, video or animation only. Others a mix. Some take me on as a Creative Director to help them ideate from the beginning and create for them at the end.

Different platforms need different things

We all use more than one channel to tell the world we are out there ... let them know who we are, what we do and what we can do to help. It's not a matter of posting the same thing in 6 places and crossing our fingers !

An Instagram reel needs a different touch than a YouTube video or a LinkedIn brand photo. Offering multiple services gives my clients flexibility and adaptability in their visual content. I become their go-to creative partner, offering them everything they need to make an impact across platforms.

When I help a client develop a cohesive visual story, the results speak for themselves. Why choose between photography, video and animation when you can do them all in one place?

More Services, More Solutions, More Success

Being a one-stop shop for creative services means I attract a wider variety of clients who need a range of solutions. Small businesses, especially, don’t have the resources to hire multiple specialists, so I fill that gap. Whether a lash tech needs new product photos, a startup wants engaging animations, or a remote client is looking for an all-in-one branding package, I’m here to make their lives simpler—and their brands unforgettable.

Not only does this approach let me work with diverse clients, but it also builds stronger relationships. Clients stay with me because I’m able to handle all their creative needs in one place.

I offer flexibility and versatility that allow my clients to stay fresh and relevant in a dynamic market.

Embracing the Non-Niche Approach

If you’re a small business or creative entrepreneur considering whether to niche down, take it from me—there’s another way. Being niche-free isn’t just an option; it’s a strategy that brings endless creative opportunities and keeps my work engaging and impactful. When you’re ready to make your brand stand out across social media with cohesive, high-quality visuals, I’m here to bring your vision to life—one creative service at a time.

Let’s ditch the narrow lane and go full-speed into a world of creative possibilities!
